Daniel Freeman is an independent filmmaker, documentary editor, and experimental music composer. He was a SFFILM FilmHouse resident in 2019 and 2020, where he directed, wrote, shot and edited his debut feature film Teddy, Out of Tune. The film screened at the Mill Valley, Bushwick, and Maryland Film Festivals, among others. His follow up short film, If You Hum at the Right Frequency, premiered at the San Francisco International Film Festival. In 2024, Daniel directed two documentary short films, Abstract Tendencies and Home Frequencies, which screened at SF DocFest and Yerba Buena Center for the Arts.
Outside of his own projects, Daniel works as a documentary editor and composer. In 2023, he edited and scored the Colombian fútbol documentary, Junior Tu Papá, which was selected to the True/False and FICCI film festivals. Currently, Daniel is serving as editor and composer of the upcoming feature length documentary, Stray Embers, directed by Erin Brethauer and Tim Hussin.
Daniel’s next feature film is in development and will be titled, The Untold History of Ouch.
